Due to rain, tennis practice for today, 8/16/2012 has been cancelled.

Summer is upon us!  Information in this summer’s GCMS sports camps is now available.  You can also download the application for football camp and the insurance waiver needed for all sports.  Get out and play!

Please be advised that we will not be opening the doors until 2:30pm this Sunday. Normally we open the doors at 2:00pm but due to the extreme heat we will be trying to keep the gym as cool as possible for as long as possible. If you have out of town or elderly guests coming please let them know of the change.

Spring Sports Banquet

The Spring Sports Banquet for the high school will be held on Tuesday, May 22 at 6:00 pm in the high school gym.

2012 Greg Arends Memorial Golf Scramble

The 2012 Greg Arends Memorial Golf Scramble will take place on Monday, July 30 at Railside Golf Club-Gibson City.  Proceeds will benefit the GCMS Middle School/High School
Fellowship of Christian Athletes Camp Scholarship Fund.

Entry Fee = $50 Adult* $30 Jr.*
*Adult: 21 & over, Jr. up to 21
Entry Fee includes box lunch, golf, cart, cookout banquet, and trophies to
winning teams
Meal Only = $10

May Student of the Month

Sydni Meunier

Sydni Meunier is our May student of the month.  She was nominated for this award by Ms. Susan riley.  Sydni is the daughter of mike & Patti Meunier of rural Melvin.

Sydni has been a member of interact, FCA, project ignition & red army all 4 years.  She has also been a member of NHS, student council, art club, and freshman mentor program.  She is the secretary of the senior class.  Sydni has participated in track & volleyball all 4 years and basketball 1 year.  She is currently co-captain of the track team and was co-captain of the volleyball team.  Sydni is also active in her church youth group and junior hospital auxiliary.

Sydni is one of the class valedictorian’s, is an Illinois state scholar, and a Wendy’s high school Heisman finalist.  She was also named science student of the year in 2009, math student of the year in 2010, and foreign language student of the year in 2011. She was a two event state track champion in 2011.  She was also named MVP, most dedicated, and all conference in track in 2010 & 2011.  In volleyball she was MVP 2009-2011 seasons, and was 2^nd team all conference in 2010 & 2011.

Sydni has volunteered for mission trips in Joplin, mo, Nashville, TN, and Jackson Ms.  She has also volunteered for meals on wheels, monthly food giveaways for those in poverty, recycling through the interact club, blood drives, mentoring and tutoring.

Sydni will attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall to major in biology.  She will also be running track and cross country for Notre Dame.

High School Sports Cancellations

The Varsity baseball game and the boys and girls track meet in Pontiac have both been cancelled for this afternoon.  As a reminder, the Junior Varsity baseball game was also cancelled earlier today.
