High School September Student of the Month

Joel Hood is our September Student of the Month.  He was nominated for this award by Ms. Susan Riley.  Joel is the son of Jim & Amy Hood of Gibson City.

Joel is a member of Interact, Scholastic Bowl, Boy Scouts, Project Ignition, and FCA.  He has been a member of Student Council and Yearbook Club during his high school career.  He has also participated in Basketball for 2 years and Soccer for 4 years where he has been a captain the past 2 years.

Joel is currently a Freshman Mentor, a youth leader for Rotary and serves on the Youth Leadership team at the Gibson City Bible Church.  He is also a Sr. Patrol Leader, a leader with FCA, a student representative for the Curriculum Coordinating Committee and a Health & Wellness Committee leader in Project Ignition.  He has also helped to coordinate the Red Cross youth blood drive.

Honors & Awards Joel has received while in High School include: Eagle Scout, HOIC Honors Band, Outstanding Soph. Student in Foreign Language, High Honor Roll, Soccer Utility Award and Soccer Defensive Award.

Joel plans to attend college in the fall.
