To kick start the school year, on Thursday, August 18th, we’re hosting “Falcon First Day,” a day specifically dedicated to our incoming freshmen. It’s going to be a great day; a great way to start your four years at GCMS High School. Although many of you have already visited the high school, Falcon First Day is more than a visit. It’s about learning the culture of our school and understanding the expectations we have of our students. The day will include: A chance to win a Nook Color, Free Pizza, Top Ten Things to Know about GCMS, Schedule Run Through, Fun Activities, and time to set up your locker. The day begins at 8:30 and will end at 1:30. Transportation will be provided to bus students. Bus students will be contacted with pick up time and location.
Most all of our teachers have volunteered to be in their classrooms for at least a portion of Falcon First Day. That’s how important you are to us! When you walk through your schedule that day, you’ll be able to see the faces behind the names.
Mr. Lindy will be hosting a freshmen parent meeting at 6 pm in the high school gymnasium to answer any questions you or your parents may have.
Later in the evening of Falcon First Day, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm to be exact, we are hosting a back-to-school bash in the back parking lot. All our students, freshmen through seniors, as well as the faculty and staff are invited to attend. We will have a cookout (with members of our school board as chefs), The Extreme Adrenaline Obstacle Course, Rock Climbing Wall, Bounce House Boxing, Slushies, and a DJ. There will be an area to tie dye t-shirts, and yes it is all FREE!. The Red Army will have an organizational meeting at 7pm. We’re giving away an I Pad and a Nook Color, drawings to be held at 8:00 pm and yes, you do have to be present to win.
